News: Microsoft to acquire AT&T’s Network Cloud Technology

30th June 2021, Microsoft announces the acquisition of AT&T’s network cloud technology, including the move of AT&T’s 5G traffic to Azure.

In an interesting move Microsoft has announced the acquisition of AT&T’s network cloud including IP and talent as well as a tighter partnership with AT&T. I assume that this is part of a wider strategy to expand and enhance its current telecoms cloud offering and not to enter the mobile business. If correct this should make the Azure for Operators proposition much more compelling for the telecoms market.
