When using a virtual image, which does not have a network connection. You may experience problems with saving documents directly into a document library and the following error message may be displayed.
“This file cannot be saved because there is not connection to this server. Check your network connection and try again”.
To resolve this just stop the System Event Notification Service (Start –> Administrative Tools –> Services).
